About

Hello and welcome to my blog!

My name is Eleonora Belfiore (although everybody calls me Ele), and I am originally from Catania, in Italy, but have been living in the UK since 1997.

I’m an associate professor at the Centre for Cultural Policy Studies at the University of Warwick, UK. I research public policies for the cultural sector, and I am especially interested in the rhetorical dimension of policy, the role of evidence in evidence based policy making, and debates around cultural value. I have done research on the social impact of the arts and the problem of impact evaluation, and I am interested in the transhistorical dimension of ideas of the transformative powers of the arts.

In 2008 my book The Social Impact of the Arts: An intellectual history, co-authored with Prof. Oliver Bennett, was published by Palgrave.

My staff page on the Warwick web site contains more information on my publications. Please feel free to get in touch if you’d like a copy of any of my journal articles.
